Chamba Nashville Soccer Camp

Chamba returns from its second annual Nashville Summer Camp. Host Tommy Holt headlined several special events throughout the week including a nutritionist, Star Physical Therapy workouts and injury prevention, and bubble soccer.

However the main headline for the week was special guest United States Futsal National Team Coach Keith Tozer. "Coach T" came in for one day to give coaches and campers a glimpse into Futsal, running several technical and tactical activities for coaches to mimic and players to get an understanding of the game. He also discussed the current status of the Men’s Futsal National Team, the U.S. Youth Futsal National League, and the Youth National Team ID process. Tozer shared his experience and knowledge with Nashville and will continue to grow the sport throughout the United States.

Jason Utley and Drew "Ducks" Ducker took the lead on the camp curriculum. Ducks, former US Futsal National Team Player, holds his B license and currently plays for Detroit's PASL indoor team. Jason recently earned his A license and opened a new segment of Chamba called "Chamba Helix." Jason explains, “Chamba Helix is a program to develop the complete soccer player by working in the field, adding performance training and applying character development to the sessions.”

Both coaches introduced new sessions and learning methods throughout the week and were excited to be apart of the event. Ducks stated, “The players enjoyed the camp and work hard in the sun all week. Many were interested in learning more about Futsal, which I was very pleased to hear. Bubble soccer seemed to be a player favorite as well, with players being able to bounce around and do more tackling than soccer.”

A huge thanks to Mt. Juliet high school for their first class facilities and host Tommy Holt for putting the whole production together. We look forward in further expanding our camp next year and also help Coach T bring more Futsal awareness in Nashville, TN.
